PROJECT OVERVIEW
‘All of the waste heat from cooling the gym areas is captured and used to heat the pool water and hot water for showers’
This alteration to the original 2014 configuration allows better utilization of lower-grade heat, improving the heat pump’s Coefficient of Performance (COP). Additionally, providing simultaneous heating and cooling will maximize the efficiency of the Ground Heat Exchanger (GHEX), optimizing both heating and cooling performance.
PROJECT DELIVERABLES
GED were employed by the installation contractors to design the replacement GSHP system to RIBA 4. While completing thermal modelling and examining building performance, opportunities to improve the system performance and reduce carbon emissions were found and taken.
